3-shades-closer.jpgThree-piece bands are quite a rarity in the Milton Keynes scene. Among the myriad of acts in the local area there are quite a few bands that go for the usual four person setup so for Sandbuzzard to make a prescence musically deserves commendments, especially as they have managed to acquire such a tight sound. Apart from the usual gigging and the upcoming heat of the competition, the guys have also come up with some new material that features on their last Ep, “3 Shades Closer”.

note-to-self.jpg Noon Layer Drive, fronted by ex Bosomunkee Garry Murphy played quite a set down at MK4U, I also managed to get hold of their latest Ep which is featuring on their current tour, titled Note To Self.”Note To Self” begins the Ep with an aggresive start, chugging harmonics giving a bit of a robotic style before the heavy riffs dive in alongside Garry’s vocals. The melody is a very bendy and catchy one with strong drumming pace coupled with bass and guitar intertwining with each other.

lost-in-our-own-time.png2ft High have been small fish in a big pond for some time, being one of the many ska bands of Milton Keynes, but small fry they are no more, after getting into the limelight supporting some sizeable names like the mighty Capdown, the sorely missed Adequate Seven and the legendary Pama International the band have risen up in the scene and will be headlining at the MK Pitz in April. Apart from the live circuit, they also laid down an album at Warehouse Productions, the fruits of the recording named “Lost In Our Own Time”. So, how far have 2ft High come?

you-gotta-make-it-happen.pngKa*Tet are one of those bands that you could describe as having “feral-angst”, their tunes are a gruffy mix of rock and roll sounds with Ben’s characteristic grizzly vocals. Their live shows can be quite rowdy too, if they aren’t, you can be sure that you will get a fair amount ofabuse until you decide to shout back in anger or join in the spirit, it doesn’t really matter which as Ka*Tet are a band that appreciate extremes, as long as you do “something”.
