Rock n’ Roll band Outraze requested a review on their Myspace tracks, something I’m not used to doing, but hey, not that I’m complaining. The Firetone Ep: by Firetone

Back from holiday and I’ve already got some Cd reviews waiting to happen, first up is the latest Ep from the Band Blitz winners, Firetone. The guys were kind enough to send their latest Cd to allow us to see how things are coming along… Whack the Cd into a player and the first thing to hit you is a very poppy and lighter sound, Angel Inside being a very fitting introduction to the new direction from Firetone with the weight toned down and a bit of a whimsical, yet hopeful blend that crops up in the rest of the album, far removed from the dark.

stand-up.png As many of you now know, Lockjaw has supported quite a few bands including our very own Device. One particular band on the label is Eightpagepullout, a jumpy Scottish band who released a Cd called “Stand Up” not long ago, here’s a breakdown on the recordings. Much like what we experienced with their live set, there’s never really a dour moment, the tracks instantly coming across upbeat from the start of the opener, “Stand Up”, right through to the last moments of “Miss Adventure”, looks like something to check out…

The Sunset Lounge has been through a few venues in it’s time as well as changing hands, but time hasn’t effected the nights too much and we have to admit that some very good musicians turn up to play sets that are way too short without a full lineup. On that note it’s great to see some of the regular faces getting their dues tonight in the Sunset Lounge Showcase, featuring some regular faces alongside some people I’m unfamiliar with, cue the music!
