Well, it’s been a fair year for the site and it’s come quite a way from the forum-based beginnings, having covered the festivals and the Pitz Blitz also helped. That said, I’d be the first to admit that things haven’t been quite consistent due to different reasons/excuses, but thanks to various people helping out (not forgetting Josh) it’s gone a bit smoother than I first anticipated.
Grown up punk? You’re having a laugh aren’t you? Well, no I’m not actually! New bassist, new sound and a lot more developed than before (have no fear though punk lovers, you can still find the old familiar shouting of “oi!” here). Yep, sounds like Near The Knuckle are here again and bless ‘em, they’re all growed up! Right from the start of Fat Cats and Rat Traps you can tell that Near The Knuckle are the sort of band who’d order steak, chips and a pint, then tell the salad to “go forth and multiply” or words to that accord.
Hello again, everyone. Sorry about the huge lack of updates from myself for this week, it’s been a horrendous mix which is finally, and thankfully over. In short, this week has been the “bend-over -and-take-it-like-a-man” with work, lots of Christmas dinners to serve over Tuesday-Friday, while man-flu has left my nostrils filled with a mix of what seems to be 50% blood, 50% snot. I’ve also just got back from Newcastle from seeing my family. Thus this blog is pretty much a rant…
Close your eyes. Take yourself back to childhood days when you were so carefree that all you were really worried about was if your parents would let you go out with your friends after tea for an evening kick about in the park. Why? What relevance does this have to the music, Josh? Well, every relevance that’s what. The reason being, that is exactly listening to this beautifully made E.P. made me feel. In all honesty, it just made me want to grab the closest person and give them a massive hug, so I did!
Yet more musical leanings and videogames from me, how thoughtful of myself!? I remember when my friend got a demo disk with this game on it. We played the demo for ages-and-ages-and-ages. We got so much enjoyment out of the demo alone and when I finally got the game, I was totally made up with a new way to waste my time , welcome to the world of Bust-A-Groove. A game that made my thumbs bleed, my mouth curse and a game I could never quite stop playing, and probably the same for others too.

Down at the Craufurd Arms, Annotazioni and Underpass put up a bit of a charity gig in the pub, a fairly laid back acoustic night for Diabetes UK with a fair few local names showing up to perform. Unlike the majority of gigs under the Craufurd’s roof, this one is in the cosy pub lounge which suits the mood more with some low lighting and a much more intimate touch, sounds like a generally smooth plan for the night, and hopefully people wont have a case of short arms and deep pockets.
