As some of you may have noticed as of recent, the site’s front layout has been changed with some pictures taking up residence where the links were. This was admittedly to make the site easier to read more than anything else, as a huge list can make a site look ugly if the rest of the page is busy. The truth is, the links won’t be gone for long as I’m fixing up a directory of links to music related promotions, blogs and businesses in the area, so all the links will be back again in their own section that you can easilly get to.
This also forms a callout to anyone else who wants their good selves to be linked up too, so we can form the most comprehensive directory for the local area. If you want to get involved, don’t hessitate to throw me over an email at ampjammail@yahoo.co.uk so we can get things sorted out asap.

Back to normal at AMPjam HQ, or my room at least anyway. After a flurry of big local events it’s time to settle back into the normal gigs, starting with a visit from Skaville UK at the Craufurd Arms, featuring a lot of old school talent that have had experience from The Specials, The Selecter and Bad Manners, among others. And let’s not forget the vocal talents of Rhoda Dakar of The Bodysnatchers lending a hand too. Support on the night was originally to be from Titan System, but complications led to local offbeat purveyors, Anti Vigilante, taking up the support slot in their stead.

It feels a bit weird now as I’ve realised that a year of AMPjam really has come full-circle, Live!zone was one of the first “proper” articles I covered and I find myself back at the event once more. Last year cut it close, but this time I was ready for a long day with an actual battery pack and plenty of money for some mochas or any other source of the caffiene I needed. When I finally get myself sorted and waiting for the day to start, there’s not much to do but have a laugh at Oz and the crew going through soundcheck like a band about to play at Wembley, good times.

I have to admit it, it’s been a rather stale year for music over here, since the Pitz Blitz last year I began to see how a lot of the crowds only had a handful of favourite bands and only really went to see them. So for once, I’m actually going to pour my heart into a blog. I’m not sure if it will change anything or enlighten anyone, but I could probably say that I see the MK scene on a much wider scale than others. And maybe that’s part of the problem, it’s nothing personal to anyone who’s reading this but literally an opinion I’ve formed over the past few years.

Although we aren’t exactly spoiled for choice for music down here in Milton Keynes, we do get the odd event that crops up to liven things up a bit, and one is on it’s way courtesy of SoundUK. The company organise a fair few events and tours around the country and have come up with “Canal Music” which offers something a little different, two musicians collaborating on a tour, the itinerary being down the Grand Union Canal waterways by barge, coming up with what is reputed to be a mix of folk and electronica.

The local festival season is most of the way through now, next stop Station Square for another round of Musik 4U with the Make a Difference crew. Usually I like to chill around a bit, but today’s start was different with me meeting a hazy Craig Hudson in Bletchely as the band gathered to get our “convoy” of cars, music gear and amicable musicians on the road to the festival. Pulling up, I see some familiar faces with our Alice and also Nick, a friend I haven’t seen in a good long while. A clear sky, friendly crew and a café around the corner? This might sound too good to be true…
