Oh god, it’s that time again where we tweak the nipples of videogame history for anything music related, though this one isn’t quite settled in rock veins or rather unique. However, the game had one hell of a soundtrack alongside it’s new take on innovative gameplay, the blocky Playstation X world of Ape Escape. In particular the first game which to this day still has quite a fanbase for some odd reason or other.

BITE Nights at Revolutions in the Xcape centre have just celebrated their first birthday. Brought to the scene a year ago by the guys of Full Fat promotions (who also brought you Sabotage), the Monday club night has gone from strength to strength over the time and has attracted a regular base of fans thanks to a combination of drinks offers, good tunes, the DJ opportunities and who can forget those sweets?

A quick heads up to everyone about the new promoter name hitting the Sno! Bar. Flatline Productions will be putting on gigs as the new revamped name that the Beatdown guys work behind. The team will be more-or-less exactly the same as the Beatdown team though soundman Colin will be leaving the team for most of their work, though Craig Glenister will be joining the team in putting on the gigs, the press release is as follows:

It’s kind of hard to write about the passing of something, this particular write-up was going to be about the last Pitz gig, also known as Riv’s Farewell Bash. Taking one last walk in the foyer was a bit surreal, like going to a funeral in the way that most people seem to turn up, however, there’s no black formal ties but the usual mix of music lovers.

Musical heroes are pretty varied, last week I was spouting off about some fairly off the wall suggestions, but this week I thought about devoting a whole article to an artist who is pretty much the total opposite, or is she? Lady gaga is the stage moniker that we’re all too familiar with, but under that lies undoubtedly one of the brightest minds in the music industry, regardless if you like her music or not.

Guitarists, a bit of a mainstay of the whole “rock-band-thing”, not something in every band though. I thought that I might as well throw my two cents into my favourite alternativist guitarists, though be warned, I’m not too much a fan of fret-w**kers so don’t be expecting the likes of Slash up there. For these guys, it takes a wholesome approach to the world of music, putting forward both industrial independence or collaborative effort.

So, making a change from talking about videogames, I though about maybe writing about old bands that were once part of the scene and for some reason have faded out a little. First up are a troupe spawned from “Odd Man Out”, named Our Man In The Bronze Age, five guys in robes, “bronze” masks and barefoot with a lineup that tended to change over time behind the facades.

Here we go again, yet another slice of the boundaries of videogames and music blurring somewhat. Most gamers know of a little something called an easter egg, not the chocolate kind that comes around in April, but hidden, secret bonuses that usually make no difference whatsoever apart from a little bit of posterity, a little extra quirk to locate.

So, yet another, Geekage, but this one is not related to videogames. Don’t breathe a sigh of relief quite yet though, as this will probably make me look incredibly camp. My reasoning for this coming to attention was through some webcomics that got a bit nostalgic, I never watched it per-se, but it seemed worthy enough for the Geekage archives. Lets go retro.

I was thinking about doing this particular piece for ages, but I thought it would be way too obvious too. Though on second thoughts it might just be something new to at least a few of you. Let’s face it, we’re all geeks on some level and the world of Final Fantasy has crept into everyone’s world in some form or another. Here’s a piece on one of my favourite rock bands who brought rock to the battle.
